What is a valuation?

A valuation is an opinion of what a particular interest in a particular property is worth, at a particular point in time for a particular purpose.
A valuation is usually required when a property is being purchased, but may also be useful in anticipation of a sale, letting, rating, re-mortgage, or indeed for balance sheet or reinstatement purposes.

The normal basis for a valuation is known as the "open market value". This is an assessment of the price at which the property being valued would have expected to sell in the open market at the valuation date subject to our terms and conditions:
